Atd Press

Editorial Design | Publication Design | Creative Development

Project Overview
ATD Press is a leading publisher of books and resources focused on talent development, workplace learning, and professional growth.

Over a three-year period, I designed more than 30 publications across a wide range of topics, developing cover concepts, interior layouts, promotional materials, and supporting marketing assets. Each publication required balancing author vision, editorial objectives, and ATD Press brand standards while creating a distinct visual identity for the content.

My Role
I led the design development of ATD Press publications from concept through production as the primary designer on the program, collaborating directly with authors, editors, and internal stakeholders to create engaging and accessible learning resources.

For each title, I developed multiple creative directions for review and refinement, ensuring the final design aligned with both the subject matter and target audience. Before my departure, I also established the book development process and design templates that became the standard other designers used going forward — turning what had been individual project work into a repeatable system for the publishing program.

Creative Approach
The goal was to create publication designs that balanced visual appeal with readability and content accessibility. Each book required a unique design solution while maintaining the professional standards and editorial consistency expected from the ATD Press publishing program.

I used strong typography, thoughtful hierarchy, and structured layouts to support the learning experience and improve content navigation across both print and digital formats.

Promotional Assets

In addition to publication design, I developed a supporting suite of marketing materials for each title, including a bookmark series and social media graphics used to promote book launches and audience engagement.

These materials extended the visual language established for each publication while maintaining consistency across ATD Press marketing channels..

Project Impact
Over three years, I served as the primary designer for ATD Press's publishing program, delivering more than 30 titles spanning cover design, interior layout, and supporting marketing assets — a sustained volume that made me one of the program's most consistent creative contributors. Several titles were authored by internationally recognized experts in the talent development field, including ROI measurement authorities Jack and Patti Phillips, and went on to become bestsellers within the category, helping extend ATD Press's reputation as a leading publisher in workplace learning and professional development.

Beyond individual titles, I left a lasting mark on how the program worked: the book development process and design templates I established became the standard for other designers after my departure, turning what had been ad hoc project work into a scalable, repeatable system for the publishing program.
